U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary - Eighth Western Rivers Region

Two's News:   News and Information for Division 2 Auxiliarists

Important: For the latest news from the Eight Western Rivers Region, visit the 8WR Members Web Site.

  • For all Auxiliarists: mandatory training requirements during calendar year 2010 include:
    1. Sexual harassment and Assault Prevention/Response (SHAPR) training.
    2. Privacy Awareness
    3. Security Education (AND) Training Awareness (SETA)
    4. Influenza Training (Once per career)

All of this mandated training is designed to be taken online using the Coast Guard Learning Portal. Each Auxiliary member will need to set up a Learning Portal Login Account. Unfortunately not all the process kinks have been worked out by the Chief Director's Office, in coordination with OSC Martinsburg, that will allow all courses to be taken online via the Learning Portal and to have the results automatically transmitted to the each member's AUXDATA profile.

When the procedures are working and available, notice will be posted on the 8WR website so all members can begin to complete their CY10 mandated training using the CG Learning Portal. (16 December 2009)

  • Mark your calendars now: District 8WR Spring Training Conference 2010 – March 19-20, 2010, hosted by Division 11, at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center Minneapolis, 3131 Campus Drive, Plymouth, Minnesota 55441. Watch for more information later on the District Web site. (30 November 2009)
  • The new On Water Training Manual (OWT) has been updated. The updates include new cross references of tasks to courses now being used: About Boating Safely, second edition, Boating Skills & Seamanship, 13th edition; Sailing Skills & Seamanship, sixth edition. There are minor title changes reflected in the change from DC-E to DIR-E. The new manual can be downloaded from the e-library. (16 November 2009)
  • Division 2 division meeting and Change of Watch for 2010 is scheduled for 23 January 2010 at the Logistics Health Incorporated Building, La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mark this date on your calendars -- More information on our Auxiliary and Marine Events Web page. (10 November 2009)
  • A Monthly Division 2 Staff Teleconference has been established by Harry Schwab, DCDR and the next meeting is scheduled for 10 December 2009. Contact Harry harry.schwab@mwt.net for more information and instructions for accessing the call. (05 November 2009)
